Pumpkin Frog and Zombie Frog Pattern
Quick, mini, cute, and spooky! Two years ago, I designed these pumpkin frogs for halloween and then designed the zombie frog on Tik Tok live. These spooky frogs are still the perfect little crochet project to make for Halloween and are super fast to make! This pattern covers how to crochet a mini pumpkin frog and a mini zombie frog.

“Can I sell the plushies that I make with this pattern?”
Yes! Absolutely! What you do with the plushies you make is completely up to you! You may gift, donate, or sell any plushies that you make with any of my patterns. I would greatly appreciate if you could give "The Mary Jay" pattern credit and link back to this pattern when possible.
However, please do not sell, copy, or duplicate (to distribute) the crochet pattern itself in any form without permission.
Here’s the written pattern:
Skills and Abbreviations (In U.S. terms)
MR = Magic Ring (Magic Circle)
SC = Single Crochet
CH = Chain
INC = Increase
DEC = Decrease
FO = Fasten off
R = Round/Row
Recommended Materials:
(Based on what I used to make the frogs in the sample photos)
Super Bulky Weight Yarn (#6) in Green or Orange
Worsted Weight Yarn (#4) in Black (and Green for the pumpkin frog or Red for the zombie frog)
7 mm Crochet Hook (or a similar hook size)
Optional: 6 mm Crochet Hook (for the stem of the pumpkin frog - I used a smaller hook to make the stem, but you can probably get away with using the same hook size to make the stem.)
3.75 mm Crochet Hook (for the vine of the pumpkin frog)
12 mm Safety Eyes (WARNING: Safety eyes can be choking hazards and are not recommended for plushies made for young children or pets)
Stuffing
Yarn Needle
Scissors
Stitch Markers (Optional)
Pins (Optional)
“Where can I get the materials?”
You can find most of these items in a craft store, sometimes in places like Walmart, or on my Amazon Storefront. My amazon storefront is an affiliate link, which means that at no extra cost to you, I will earn a small commission if you use it to make a purchase. This is one way that helps support me and lets me continue to make free content for you! These are actual items that I like and used!
Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of the yarn colors that I used except for the orange for the pumpkin frog. Here is where I got it (this is also an affiliate link): Shade: Carrot Orange
“Can I use a different yarn or hook size?”
You can change the yarn size and hook size based on your preference, but if you are making the pumpkin frog, I would suggest using yarn and hooks of similar proportion to what is listed in the materials. The vine was designed to be made out of a thinner yarn than the rest of the frog, so if you would like to make the vine in the same yarn size as the rest of the frog, you may have to modify the vine’s pattern to fit it onto the frog.
Please note that the plushie may vary in size and appearance with different yarn and hook sizes.
“Can I replace the safety eyes with something else?”
Yes! The safety eyes listed are just what I used to make the plushie in the sample photo. Feel free to use a similar eye size or switch it up with felt, buttons, or even just embroider it with yarn.
Please note again that safety eyes can be a choking hazard and are not recommended for plushies made for young children or pets.

Eye Pieces: Make 2
Using Green or Orange in Size 6 Yarn
R1 6 SC in a MR
R2 6 SC (6)
FO leaving a long tail for sewing.
For the pumpkin frog, attach the eyes between rounds 1 and 2 on both eye pieces. For the zombie frog, only attach one eye onto one eye piece.
Assembly:
Eye Pieces
Sew the eye pieces onto opposite sides of the body, where the highest part starts between rounds 1 and 2 of the body.
Mouth
Using Black, embroider the mouth onto round 3 of the body and centered to the eye pieces. Start by making a straight line between rounds 2 and 3. Then bring the yarn down one round before looping around that first line of yarn to pull that yarn down into a “V” shape. Tie off the yarn and hide it inside of the plushie.
Pumpkin Frog Details:
Stem:
Using Brown in Size 6 Yarn and with a Size 6mm Hook
Note: I used a smaller hook for the stem, but you can probably use the same size hook as the frog.
R1 4 SC in a MR
R2-3 4 SC (4) 2 Rounds
FO leaving a long tail for sewing.
Vine:
Using Green in Size 4 Yarn and with a 3.75mm Hook
CH 10
R1 Turn and make 9 SC
FO leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
Sew the stem onto the top of the frog and slightly towards the back to make room for the vine. Sew on the vine right in front of the stem.

Zombie Frog Details:
Using Red in Size 4 Yarn, embroider on the zombie scar details onto the eye piece (that doesn’t have an eye) as well as on the front and back of the body.
If you’d like more guidance on how and where to embroider the scars, please visit my video tutorial at timestamp: 29:08
